Dialogue was cheesy at times, story was predictable.

Another great book! Phew, what a storyline. We followed Detective Hunter and Gracia journey as they tries to uncover a sadistic crime. What was the motive? Crime of passion? Crime of revenge? Or was it a crime done by a monster?

4.75 stars just because I don't feel that it's a 5 🤷🏻‍♀️. Do check trigger warnings before reading this book.

Easy read. Some of the scenes take you out of the story because of how outdated the technology is now but id otherwise great story that holds up well. Slightly predictable but in a way that just makes you feel kinda smart. Really enjoyed the small chapters that ended on cliffhangers so it's easy to say 'just one more chapter'. Great book to get you out of a reading slump if you enjoy crime and thrillers.

I wanted to read this book as the first book was recommended to me by a friend and I instantly loved the two books in this series, so I was really looking forward to reading the next book in the series and this book did not disappoint me at all.

The main character is a detective named Robert Hunter. He has another bad case. An unidentified female body is brought into the Los Angeles County morgue. The cause of death is still unclear. Her body bares no marks; except for the fact that her most intimate parts have been stitched shut. But what shocks the pathologist the most is that the killer had left something inside her. Something so monstrous Detective Robert Hunter, of the Los Angeles Homicide Special Section, has to be pulled off a different case to take over the investigation. Within a few days a new body has surface and like the previous victim she has been stitched shut and something has been left inside of her. It looks like the killer isn’t done yet. Is this gang related? Who would do such a thing? Can the killer be found because someone else is killed? This book is a fictional mystery thriller set in Los Angeles.

I like this book; I think Chris Carter is a genius. I think the mystery and the suspense is brilliant and enough to keep you hooked.  This book also majorly freaked me out which is the first time that’s happened, so I’ve got to give it to Chris Carter. I loved Hunter and Garcia’s friendship. Captain Blake is slowly growing on me, but I do miss Captain Bolter. I think that’s just because he gives me Donald Cragen vibes. The only thing that I would say that is a weakness, for me personally, is the short chapters. I just prefer bigger chapters. However, in this book, it did fit well with Chris Carter’s writing style where it usually doesn’t work for me. I was hooked that after a while the short chapters didn’t both me as they usually would with other authors.

I enjoyed this book, and it was interesting. However, this was one of the first books where I’ve cringed at the graphic nature of the scenes so, please check trigger warnings before reading. Overall, the book was an easy and quick read and because the writing was amazing, the storyline freaked me out and it was overall brilliant I gave it five stars. But I wouldn’t advise reading this at night, you might not sleep afterwards. I didn’t.

Another amazing read from Chris Cartner! Was reading this as a buddy read and every time I stopped after reading that days chapters I just wanted to carry on!

As always I love Robert Hunter he is funny, intelligent, sexy and just an amazing guy. Carlos Garcia is a new love for me too he is also funny especially with he funny comments in situations or towards Hunter. And I love the captain! She is badass and knows how to look after herself and doesn’t take any crap from no one.

This book was really creepy, that I am so glad I don’t have space under my bed. Even though he kept me wondering who the killer was, it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more.
The detailed deaths of the victims were creepy that gave shivers up my spine. As well as how the murderer stalks these victims.

There was a really sad part at the beginning of the book that had me cursing the author and had me wondering why he had to do that. But overall I enjoyed this book better than the previous Robert Hunter book.
I definitely recommend this series if you love blood and gore, detailed deaths, creepy murderers, mystery, funny moments and a page turn that keeps you at the edge of your seat x
