If you loved the film "Akira," you owe it to yourself to check out Otomo's original graphic novel telling the story of a near-apocalyptic future in which certain people have developed supernatural powers that can be used as weapons.

Inspiring. The artwork is unmatched. The story was cosmic.

4.5 stars. I think other people would like the art style of the book. My favorite part was the fight
in the end. -Josh N., '25

Kaneda plays the part of being a brave hero while in reality is just average and not very bright. —Aries C.L., '26

That was my first impression of Vol. 1 .

Great read, obviously there are huge differences from the anime, but that is what drew me into wanting to read the manga, which generally I'm not into.
