What a fun read! A sword and sorcery book that delightfully doesn't stick to the usual path ....and the adult characters act like adults! Great start to what i hope will be a great series.

Please note; my star rating on any book is completely subjective and limited to the label for each star.

1 Star I didn’t like it
2 Stars It was okay
3 Stars I liked it
4 Stars I really liked it
5 Stars It was amazing!

If I do actually have something to say about a book other than what my enjoyment factor was, I will write a review and share my thoughts. If I say I didn’t like a book but there wasn’t anything about it that I thought needed to be shared, then that’s it, I just didn’t like it.

If you’d like to start a discussion about a book or you’d like an actual review, ask any question you like and I’ll be happy to try and comply/respond.

Additional note; I do not feed the trolls. If you don’t have something constructive to say, or if you can’t say it in a respectful way, you won’t get a response from me. Ever.

I bought this book on a whim. It was one of those suggested Amazon books that showed up on my home screen for weeks. I finally broke down and bought it, and boy am I glad I did. I had never read any of Sullivan's books before, and even though this book is technically a prequel, no prior knowledge of the ongoing series is necessary.

The fantasy that Sullivan is able to portray in this book is astounding, yet he still manages to create an effective culture and world that still relates to modern days, or at least the middle ages. This, in my opinion at least, shares elements with common fantasy books yet it brings something entirely new to the table that I absolutely love. Sullivan is able to tie in both fantasy and realism in order to raise so many questions about humanity and the way we are portrayed as humans, as well as perspectives of time and races. While the book was slow in some spots it has an incredible message I have not been able to find in any piece of modern day literature.

I have no idea if Sullivan was specifically attempting to broadcast the message I found in the book, but I still think it is genius nonetheless. I thoroughly enjoyed all parts of this engaging plot and found an appreciation for all the characters. The hierarchy portrayed in the book was by far my favorite, and the little bits of humor found such as Malcolm and his obsession of hitting people with rocks really made me fall in love with this book. The more I look back on it, Age of Myth keeps getting better and better in my mind.
