I just KNEW as soon as we met Kenan and Lotus in the first book, that I wanted to read their story as soon as I finished. And this book did not disappoint; I liked it even better than Long Shot.

As always, Ms. Ryan breaks our heart but she puts it back together. I cried so many times during this book, and the love story is so beautiful (the Song of Solomon quotes? Are you kidding me?? *sobs*)

I loved everything about this book! The love story, family dynamics, divorce/parenting, fashion, basketball, music, friendships. Kenan was so patient with Lotus the entire book and Lotus was unapologetically herself. The entire Hoops trilogy is AMAZING and you should probably do yourself a favor and go read them all immediately!!

Hook Shot is another fantastic read from Kennedy Ryan with a couple that is fun to root for.  The way she writes is so deep; it’s the current day love story AND each character’s personal growth that helps them be ready for love.  It’s therapy, romance, and spice packaged up in entertaining writing – incredibly well done.

In this book, the third in the Hoops series, we meet Kenan and Lotus.  Kenan is a recently divorced dad still working through the public scandal of his wife cheating with his NBA teammate.  Lotus is a single woman who shields her heart with physical hook ups that keep everyone an arm’s length away from her childhood trauma.  Lotus is the cousin of Iris (book 1) and this story goes a little deeper into their childhoods, which I enjoyed.

When they meet, sparks fly and they can’t help but spend time with each other.  It’s friendship first, slow burn love, with an older grumpy man and a younger fun woman.  It’s emotional depth with heat and spice, the Kennedy Ryan special.

I loved this book.  I loved it almost (almost!) as much as Before I Let Go and I’m excited to keep going through her backlist.  She has devoted fans for a reason and there are so many books to dig into.  I’m awful at reading romance books in order so I’ll go back and read book 2 in this series – I hear Jared is a fan favorite and I can’t wait to see what the fuss is about.

I liked this one. I felt like Simone shouldve been 9 or 10 instead of 14 though, her dialogue made her seems like she should be a lot younger. Loved this series!

TW: suicide, domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, death

y'all 🧍🏾‍♀️. this book built me up, tore me down, broke my heart and then pasted the pieces back together. it's an illness and a medicine, trauma and therapy. it's the wreck that flatlines your heartbeat and the defibrillator that brings you back. it's everything and y'all don't even have to wait to know it's 100000% a 5⭐ read. kennedy ryan has this insane, psychotic habit of pulling you in so deeply into the story that the plotline and characters become your own, only to write in something CRAZY to remind you that she's the puppet master. and i can't even hold y'all,

i'm a puppet- happily.

this book is the 3rd in the hoops series and my personal favorite. kenan ross is the man of my dreams, and i do mean that literally. because despite how much i adore his character, despite how much i love the way he's written and can only hope to write so eloquently one day, we would NEVER get along irl 😭. i hate to say that but it's true! lotus, like everyone, is well written and waa easily the best part of this story. she's funny, charismatic, driven, and a perfect match for kenan. reading her personal life story was sobering because while she isn't real, there are so many men and women who can relate to her. i don't want to speak out of turn, but i could imagine that reading this story would be extremely therapeutic for some.

kennedy ryan does it AGAIN (but who's surprised fr?). i will never shut up about this book and i can see why @layreadings wanted me to read it so bad. age gap, sports romance, kinda second chance romance (?), a 🤏🏾 forced proximity, and instant attraction.

i love it here. i may or may not have mentioned this before, but k.r. is very quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
