This was great! I knew virtually nothing about Cass Elliot/Ellen Cohen, and this expressive, unabashed portrayal of her life before fame with the Mamas and the Papas is a great introduction to a big lady with a big voice. Any stories at all about people of Elliot’s size do not often feature them as sympathetic protagonists, and as a bigger person myself, I appreciated the care and attention here. This book resonated with me, and I’m currently listening to the annotated playlist the author/illustrator included (among other songs of Elliot’s). She lived a too short, but not fully tragic, life.
