What a great start!

A unique way of writing and a short, fluffy and sometimes even funny story that represents each of them well.

If you want a romantic, no angst, hyper fluffy novel that reads quickly. I suggest you do.

After the prequel introduced us to Dakota's immense personality and generosity, we were hoping he would meet his soul mate.

Charlie is an alpha, but not like all the others. His father sees him as a failure, because he doesn't show enough macho masculinity, but he fits perfectly into the Burke clan.

He is more than happy to join Dakota's family, even though he already has 5 childrens. He is going to have to adapt to it, to introduce himself and to hope for the acceptance of each and everyone.

Contains: fate mate, knot, mpreg, an entertaining and radiant family.

Note: There’s a box set of the complete series. KU.

Book 1 in Toby Wise’s Collection of Strays series. You don’t need the prequel, Before Fate - but I think it helps with the backstory/world building.

Quick and low angst shifter omegaverse, fated mates, MPREG novella. It’s insta love between Charlie & Dakota and syrupy sweetness. I like Dakota’s kids and how hard Charlie works to connect with all of them. The banter is a lot of fun - especially since the youngest of the kids is turning 18 during the story. Charlie and Dakota get their HEA and a cute little epilogue.

I’m looking forward to Elwood’s book, Touching Fate.

This book was my first shot at the alpha/omega sub genre and though I really liked the storyline, I'm still not sure if this genre is for me.

I fell in love with the side characters though, which is why I'm pretty sure I'll be reading the whole series. Hopefully, it'll help me realize if this sub-genre is for me or not.

Eh. I really enjoyed the pack/family in this one. I feel like I missed tons of backstory, but that's kind of expected from novellas.

One of my newest favorite books

This is such a cute, sweet, happy story. I've added it to my reread list, and I can see myself coming back to this lovely world again and again. The characters are so great, and the story is wonderful.

2.5 stars.
I liked the found family theme and how it broke stereotypes, but everything happened wayyyy to fast for it to have any sort of emotional impact.

Content warnings include: a/b/o shifter setting featuring mpreg, toxic parents, sex on-page, misgendering of a non-binary character until their pronouns are mentioned.

This book is the start of such a wonderful series. By the time I finished it, I was already in love with this whole family.

If you're going to read this, make sure you're prepared for Alpha/Omega dynamics, a M/M romance, and mpreg (I know these things aren't for everyone).

Dakota is such an amazing example of an older man who has spent his life helping others and who is happy with what he's built for himself and his family even before he finds his mate. Charlie fits right in with the rest of the family, too!

One of the things I really enjoyed about this book (and the whole series, really) is the representation. I really love the variety of characters in the series, and I feel like there's someone that almost everyone can identify with.

Una historia preciosa, sencilla, pero muy muy cute y llena de amor y ternura. Amé, literalmente, amé a cada uno de los personajes y sinceramente creo que Cameron es mi personaje favorito.
