OBVIOUS ISSUES ASIDE……..it was beautifully written and made me think about a lot of things i didn’t expect to think about. but also a lot of it went over my head and i got lost in the prose quite a bit :/ will be continuing the series though

(2.5) i really thought i was going to like this book more than i did. the story felt from the beginning that it just dragged on. it wasn’t as spooky as i was anticipating honestly. My biggest gripe with this story is Claudia’s character. I hated the amount of times she, a 5 year old, was referred to as sensual and then child like a few pages later. there are other ways that Louis character can show humanity than borderline being a pedo

Horrendously badly aged and racist. the show literally improves on every aspect of this.

This is an absolute classic book and it stands the test of time. Its still as atmospheric as the first time I read it and I love each and every small nuance of the characters. They eac  have their own growth arcs and its fascinating to follow their lives. Anne Rice was an amazing writer and her work became the foundation for so many modern vampire books that I loved growing up. Fantastic read.
