Poorly written, but the worst part is that the romantic interest had no choice and the author never addressed it.

As she does with A Promise of Tomorrow, McAllister shines at creating intense, memorable characters! I was immediately transported into the world of her story and kept there.

Her skill with scenes--composing, combining, placing--is amazing. Her balance of plot, sound psychological character development, and sexual tension (and creative, captivating release) is beaut! And the suspense? Fab. My mind was alight with questions regarding the mysterious Stephen, since we were only privy to William's POV. (This didn't stop me from connecting with Stephen, though.)

I was a bit disappointed in the grand climax finale (Stephen could have had more of a part in the solution; I wanted to see or know of an angsty scene of Graves and Stephen after he was "returned"...), but, on the other hand, my imagination was inspired! A lovely HEA.

And if the historical aspects for 1820 were off, I didn't notice. (But I don't usually care about the details of historical placement--I just want the basics to ring true and get back to focusing on the emotions.) The dialect of the servants had me slowing down to figure out what the heck they were saying. Didn't bothered me none, but it may be annoying to others.

Very satisfying, feel-good page-turning novel!

Fluffy trope-filled regency historical m/m; not a whole lot different from other fluffy trope-filled regencies (right down to the "devil" name of one of the heroes) except for the gender of the protags.
