I have conflicting feelings about this book - in terms of the emotions this book made me feel, I think it was a solid 5, especially as it was the first thriller I’ve read that I would consider had a horror element to it. If you want to be scared when you read, this a good choice! However, looking at the bones of the actual plot, I have to say that certain anchors that the book relies upon you believing just weren’t that believable (upon reflection). It’s a bit slow to start, but once you’re in it, you’re hooked.

The story concept is so intriguing, I love anything that deals with
Spoilermale violence towards women, the patriarchy, and misogyny
and I think this book depicted it in a way that I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Peter Swanson is fast becoming a favourite author!

Soooo if you can suspend your belief in reality - this book may be a hit for you. Several things didn’t line up for me; the misogyny was tough to deal with; and the story became utterly ridiculous at one point.
