It was… fine. Gratuitously violent, wayyyy too long, and the “reasons” were ridiculous. I have never written a CW list this long, and I hope to god I will never write one this long again.

Stephen King could’ve made a point here, but he threw it all away for some
goddamn fucking aliens
so, overall, the book was just… meh 🤷🏼‍♀️

Very cliché. Too long. So many unnecessary details. The ending was a bit of a twist but not satisfactory.

Dragged in the beginning for how quickly it ended. The characters were memorable and the plots were very detailed.
Satisfied to finish the book, not sure I’m going to pick it up again.

Over the years I have attempted to read this book multiple times. It’s size always intimidated me and Stephen Kings work can be quite dense. But once your in, your in.
Jim Rennie may be the best and most infuriating antagonist I’ve ever seen and that’s because he’s so real. In this current climate, egotists like him are everywhere and do cause so much pain- maybe not as much as Jim Rennie manages to inflict.

What I’m happy about is the focus on human nature,
with less of a focus on the extraterrestrial origins of the dome.
It is definitely a character-driven book and it benefits from that.

I didn’t rate it higher just because some scenes I really struggled to get through, and also I wish we saw more of what happened after the dome. But I think I’m just being greedy with that one.
