The problem with humor, as I've said before, is that it is different for different people. Although the cartoons in this book, a collection of web cartoons is funny, in that I can say, oh, funny, I didn't find myself laughing, or wanting to show any of the cartoons to any one. It was not laugh out loud humor, more like, "ok, that is funny.".

But, to each their own. There is a mass fallowing of these strips, so if that is one of you, then this is the book for you, and you can have all the humor in one place. For others, I would suggest checking out his humor online, first, to see if this is the sort of collection you would like to own.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest reivew.

This was exactly the laughs I needed today. Goofy graphics with sardonic commentary about all the futilities of life that made me laugh out loud so many times. I will be sharing these comics forever. They are equally hopeful and dark... a little like the Peanuts and Calvin Hobbes met and had a comic baby. John McNamee just gets me.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I wanted to like this book, but so much of the humor is depressing or vulgar that it fell flat for me. Some of these comics are very clever, looking at the world in offbeat and surprising ways, but even though I occasionally laughed at particularly good panels, the book as a whole did not impress me. Much of the humor depends on a dark, negative outlook on life, and many of the panels involve foul language. Sometimes, the artist bleeped the s-word and f-word, but other times, he spelled them out completely. I didn't appreciate it either way, and often felt like the author was depending on the offensive words for a laugh, rather than crafting an excellent joke.

However, even though I found this book disappointing, I am sure that many people will find it delightful. If someone enjoys dark humor and doesn't mind vulgarity, this may be a good fit for them. Some of these comics are very clever, offering hilarious, twisted insights on life, and I can see why people enjoy this comic series. This book just wasn't for me.

I received a temporary digital copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Simple, sarcastic and odd - that's how I'd describe it. The humor isn't for everyone, and was hit or miss for me, but overall I enjoyed it.
Topics of coping with childhood, society, work, love, the world, yourself - anything and everything really. It definitely kept me entertained and reading.

So, I don't follow Pie Comics online. I vaguely remembered reading the first collection, Book Learning, a couple of years ago and that there were not enough books in a book called Book Learning. Fast forward a couple of years and I am looking for something to read that is quick and easy and preferably a bit funny as well.

Just Act Normal ticks all those boxes, but not much more than that. The style is not really for me, and while I thought some of the comics were mildly funny, it was not as funny as I had hoped. A little bit of escapism, but I am afraid it didn't work that well for me.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a pretty fun read! I've been somewhat obsessed with slice of life comics lately (me and everyone else lol), but I'd never read the pie comics before! So all comics in here were super new to me!

The content was funny - if you're into the whole sarcastic, dry humour thing, this is definitely the book for you!

Ans...Idk man. Comics are fun. Read em!

I love the humor that John McNamee shares with us in each cartoon, the book is about how the human being deals with the world and goes from the general to the singular like work, family, friends. With a black humor he defines what makes each individual special and invites us to laugh at triumphs and misfortunes.
The drawing is very simple, that makes it more enjoyable and easy to understand.
