Characterization is bland and incoherent, unjustified melodrama abounds. The romance and its obstacles alike are unconvincing. The beginning of the story felt like being dropped wholesale into the middle of a story and matters never improved. There's some humor, but it's no saving grace. Do not recommend.

GOT FOR FREE ON AMAZON! At times I was a little confused so many names and back stories but if you can understand you will enjoy!

I loved these characters! Two independent spirits, each with secrets and scarred hearts join forces enroute to London with a supporting cast that adds humor, conflict, and enough trouble to keep a reader turning the pages from Chapter One to The End. A delightful read that leaves you wanting more!

I have read this book more than once. I love love love Cpt. Grant. Who doesn't love a man in charge? Patience has anything but that and test Capt Grant when ever she can lol I feel in love with Ms. Blair when I read triplet witch trilogy and she never disappoints me!

Not bad, though I will agree with an earlier review that I felt cheated when we skip the climax, if you will. Side note: the bit with the pig made me laugh until I was in tears and having an asthma attack.

I enjoyed the characters, and the story. Had quite a few laugh-out-loud moments and quite a few sweet moments. I could have done without some of the romance scenes. I prefer a more "implied" approach to romance rather than a "tell-all". Just my personal preference.

Another vacation read... I really enjoyed this one as well. Again, I suspect it is because most of it took place aboard ship. :-) The characters in this one were really well done, and I enjoyed the story as well.

I picked this up from BookBub because it had been awhile since I'd read a romance and wanted to try it out. While I wasn't entirely disappointed, neither was I satisfied.

Most of my issues with this book stem from inconsistency with the characters. I felt them to be spontaneous in a way that wasn't 'expected.' (Yes, you can expect spontaneity as a consistent trait). That made them not quite believable. While I didn't hate them, and still wanted to find out what happened, I didn't ever feel a good grip on who they were. There were many events that were just too convenient to add any strength to the plot, also. Things, and characters, popped up out of nowhere, which gave me an apathy to the characters that made me not care much for their story lines. The drama with Grant's father? Meh. Too little, too late.

Oh, and a sailor traveling with an unknown infant/toddler across the ocean on his own? Not buying that one.

The ending disappointed me, I will say. There was some good buildup/romantic tension that completely fizzled out. SPOILER ALERT: forcing the two to get married at the end was a horrible decision on the author's part. Horrible. It went against all their revelations up to that point and completely marred my view on the book. SPOILER OVER.

Despite how poor this review makes it sound, it was an enjoyable read. There are grammatical mistakes, but Blair keeps the story constantly moving forward, so I didn't find it boring at any point. I'm still on the fence over whether I'd try the next book, but when the hankering for a romance hits, I wouldn't turn her down at this point, so it's looking optimistic.
