Not gonna lie I devoured this book , it just makes me so happy to read trans love stories :) however.. that being said I think for me this just didn’t hit the mark for me. The characters felt underdeveloped and the resolution felt rushed.

As a 16 year old trans kid this book was so good, and joyful and comforting to read about other queer 16 year olds. I enjoyed it all, I have quite literally been looking forward to this book since the day it was announced. I wish you all the best by Mason Deaver means so much to me and I just needed this book. I will Admit Neil did get on my nerves a lot but he made up for it, and Wyatt my sweet sweet child how I love them. The pool scene made me tear up and the instant support Neil was able to show Wyatt made my heart ache THEY ARE SO <3!!! But yes i cried multiple times 100% recommend I love books about queer and trans joy, please read this.

This was just a perfectly written YA story filled with beautifully nuanced discussions of gender, sexual identity, body acceptance, socioeconomic hierarchies, & family issues.

I love that Mason wrote such a flawed character in Neil. He was privileged, spoiled, and just kind of mean. He is a true product of his upbringing and it was beautiful to watch him grow and change throughout the novel. One of the best parts of Neil is that even though I didn't like him at the start, I still kind of loved him. He was funny and charming and easy to secretly root for. He felt really real and I think that can sometimes be hard to pull off in an MC.

On the other hand, Wyatt was the epitome of a cinnamon roll and from the very first bit of their dialog, I wanted to wrap them up in a warm little hug. The way Wyatt was always trying to look for the best in Neil without letting Neil walk all over him was just so sweet. The discussion between Neil and Wyatt around gender was just absolutely perfectly written. I loved it. One of my favorite parts of the book.

Nothing felt forced or rushed. It felt so natural and inevitable. Mason really makes you believe that you could fall in love over the course of a week.

This was so freaking cute!!!

Neil, so much hate for him but I guess redeemable after everything and learning more.

Wyatt! Such a sweetheart and ugh love their journey to finding themselves.

Def a must read!

The only thing that made me question 4 or 5 stars was that the ending was abrupt to me since I yearned to just continue following the characters/ relationships. Then again, the book had to end somewhere! I loved it so much.

This was so great! The characters actions all aligned with what teens actually do/feel and I love that!!! So much of YA (currently being published) feels like it’s actually targeting adult readers, but this felt authentically for teens!!!
