I started reading this book during a weird time to be a nurse, and it made me feel a little less alone (and put my own situation in a much-needed perspective). I can only hope to perform the patient-centered care and resilience these twelve anchors did during the war.

Riveting and heartbreaking true story of what happened in the Philippines during WWII. The Japanese were holding death camps slowly starving POWs and local ordinary citizens.
