Not really sure how to rate this Novella. 4.5 would be closest. It's the perfect introduction to Ryan Cahill's world, well written, quick paced, and leaves you anxious to read more.

With action right out the gate, this novella set 400 years before book 1 in The Bound and The Broken series delivers! I'm already hooked and can't wait to jump into Of Blood And Fire. Dragons, war, betrayal, and loss are all here in this quick read. The magic system is really interesting here and reminds me a bit of Elder Scrolls. Toss in some Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings vibes as well, and I'm sure I just found my new series to obsess over. Well done, Ryan!

This was pretty good. Very action heavy and fast paced. The author recommends reading this either before or after book one, depending on what type of reader you are. I feel that this would have definitely been a full 5 stars for me if I would have read it after.

This novella drops you straight into the world and the action, with no prior introductions or explanations. However, I do feel that the author did a nice job including some tidbits of world building and slight info on magic and how it works.

I might be giving this a reread after book one just to feel the full impact, but overall I'm very impressed and am intrigued enough to want to continue this series.

A very short into to the Bound and the Broken series. Not sure if I liked the writing style, was hard for me to follow the action. But I may try Book 1 again in the future, not sure.
