I devoured this book when I should have been sleeping!!
Spoiler[lol just like the two protagonists devouring each other!!]

Exactly what I needed, off to order the rest of her back catalogue. Yah for sexy empowering novels!!

I enjoyed the resolution of this book as much as all the hurdles our characters had to jump to get there. Talia does an incredible job of writing about self assured, confident, capable, intelligent, relatable black women in her stories, this one did not miss that mark. There was depth and character development to our male protagonist ridden with trauma but that does not deter either of them from learning about each other and turning their lives into their own instead of dancing to someone else’s tune *hint*

The princess isn't a trap, it's the book. Aggressively bad; negative score out of five

Quick pace, short read that’s great for a lazy day in.

This book showcases many of Hibbert’s trademark elements romance, intersectionality, and overcoming trauma.

Overall, I’d give this 2.5 stars because some of the elements didn’t flow as well as her later works such as the highly recommended Brown Sisters series.

4/5 stars!

This was such a cute book and I am in love with anything that Talia Hibbert writes. Please look up the Content Warnings for this book! This review is coming a bit late and I didn't write them all down, however, this book does deal with some serious and dark issues.

Thanks for reading!

Fast Paced & Adorable

I picked this book up as part of my commitment to only read books with black heroines for Black History Month. I’d had this book on my TBR for quite a while and this felt like the perfect time for it. Cherry and Ruben were a joy to watch unfold. The chemistry between the two was scorching from the get go. Watching them fall reluctantly in love was so satisfying. The writing in this book was also stellar. It was faced paced and really well done. I felt like every word had a purpose. There were no superfluous moments in the book that didn’t push the story along. And the spice was absolute perfection. All in all 4 VERY well deserved stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love the author and I try to read everything she’s written that captures mu attention but this book was not it, sorry Talia. I didn’t feel the connection between the characters at all and I just didn’t think they were that good of a protagonist. In my opinion the love story between Hans and Demi had much more chemistry in it than the main story himself.
