I read this book out of curiosity and wanted to see what the hype was about. However, I am left feeling a little underwhelmed. While I enjoyed the book It was slow moving and took a long while for me to get into it. Then just as I got into it, it was finished.

The fact that it is based on Plaths  personal experience of life with mental illness is moving and thought provoking… although I am only rating it 3.5 ⭐️ I believe everyone should take the time to give this book a read

Found the first half relatable and captivating, but the second half was hard to read.

A classic for a reason. Plath's protagonist is inwardly charming, convincing you to join her in her spiral. Always contemporary.

I was reading the new biography of sylvia plath (The Red Comet) and I was interested to read more of her work. I am happy I read it to say I have read it, but it does not feel revolutionary as it was for it's time, and I found the plot to be disjointed. My favorite parts were the descriptions of landscape or settings. I don't really have a strong opinion of this book, as it has a place in history making books, but as this book is history making, many of the ideas and themes have been recycled in more recent books that, due to the cultural and social settings, I found to be more interesting and relatable.
