This is such a unique story with incredible beautiful illustrations. I wish the story would continue and we could learn about Silas background and what Bod is about in the world of the living. This was so very whimsical and at the end also very sad. I loved every page.

This is only the second Neil Gaiman book that I have ever read, the first being Coraline, and while this was much darker, I find myself liking this book more than I thought I would.
From the first page of the graphic novel, I was instantly hooked but so mean who wouldn’t be intrigued by a story starting off with a gruesome but unexplained murder of a family, a toddler who escapes to a graveyard only to be protected by ghosts, and have a vampire appointed as his guardian.
I don’t know if I would have enjoyed this book more in print form verses the graphic novels but I loved the art style and when I decide to reread this in the future, I will see what the print book has in store for me.

Welcome to this book review,
This is the second book I read from Neil gaiman, I loved "The Ocean at the end of the Lane", which was a book I had to read for class at the time. I discovered that his writing style was something that really called to me, it is captivating and so easy to get immersed in.
This graphic novel, based on his original novel, was really, really good. It unfortunately wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. It felt short compared to my expectations, The beginning was okay, but I felt like the story lacked the emotions his other novel had brought in me.
While the the main character was nice, I didn't feel particularly attached to him, normally I would cheer them on, cry for them, get mad, etc. This time it was just like "bod" was just another variable and that his story wasn't HIS. He didn't feel like he had layers to his personality and everything seemed to resolve too quickly. The art was really nice and did add to my enjoyment of this novel.
In the end it was a good novel (and I will probably, at a much later date) that I would have probably enjoyed more had it been in its original format, though the story didn't captivate me as much as "The Ocean at the end of the Lane".
-- would I recommend this, unless you really don't enjoy novels and mostly read graphic novel, not really, I fear the novel version will be much better.
Thank you for reading,
Bookarina.
