I thought this was a pretty interesting book!! I liked the characters, the world, the story. Overall it was a unique and engaging read!

I give it 4/5 stars because I got confused at times, some parts of it moved too quickly with not enough explanation and I didn’t feel like I fully understood some concepts.

This was a book that I read right before my trip and while I enjoyed it, I am kicking myself for not finishing a review for it as soon as I finished it.

I think the thing I found the most interesting was the fact that there was a poly relationship fused with a bisexual main character. I liked both the female and male love interests for the female protagonist.

I also enjoyed the concept that the living have a 'dead' guardian that follows them around that only they can see. And if the guardian shares breath with them, then they are able to adapt the ghost-like powers and see into the dead 'dimension'. Too much can kill one...

I liked the plot and I felt that everything wrapped up well at the end. I also think that this is a book that if the author wanted to continue on and add another book it would be fine, since the world seemed to have more going on in it - plus, the characters were all great.

The only reason I rated it down a star is while I liked the characters, I just felt something was missing and I think it came with the other kingdom that is involved in the book. They just kind of appeared at the end and there was not a lot of world building for them.

A brilliant an dark fantasy. This story was intriguing and exciting. The magic system is quite unique and we get to learn about it along with the main character . I loved the characters and the relationships Rovan forms.
