This is a fun book for middle grade readers that teaches some simple tips for improving business sales. The book also demonstrates how mathematics is used in everyday life by outlining the steps for computing sales and profit. The story centers on a sibling lemonade sale competition, hence the title: The Lemonade War. This would be a good book to read in a 3rd or 4th grade math class where students participate by doing business calculations of their own as the story progresses.

Cute story. I loved how economic terms were incorporated into the novel. I definitely learned something, but never felt preached at. My one small-ish complaint:
SpoilerI would have like to see Scott (Evan's not-so-nice friend) get some comeuppance in the end. How the heck did he get away with stealing that much money?

7.22: Listened to the audiobook with my kids. They both liked it quite a bit. They wanted to have a lemonade stand the day after we finished the book, and we were all able to borrow from the terms used in the book to talk about the best ways to run our stand. That was pretty cool.

I read this because a 5th grader told me it (and the sequels) was her favorite book, and she was slightly horrified that I hadn't read it. I liked it! Very realistic depiction of siblings who are close in age who love each other but also get frustrated with each other. The story never identifies Jessie, the little sister, as being on the autism spectrum but lots of kids would identify at her struggles to read the unspoken emotions of social situations. Kind of reminded me of some of Andrew Clements books - funny, genuine, just the right dose of sweet.

Super cute book! The war between siblings was hilarious! The book was easy enough for my kiddos so enjoy reading a few pages a night and still being able to remember important details. We have the rest of the books ready to read!

A cute book and with a great message. A little below my reading level, but a good book for 5-6 graders.
