While I do believe that an entire book can take place in a day or perhaps an evening, I found this entire book extremely hard to swallow.
As the reader, there was very little we knew about both of the characters to begin with and once I finished, I was left confused about the characters as well. I couldn’t seem to care about any of them try as I might and as this book centers around these two girls learning to like each other, I found it hard to care about any of what was going on. There was too much background noise which distracted from the potential relationship between the two girls.
This book felt too short and too long to accomplish anything.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

It’s a quick read and it’s easy to follow. Worth reading if you like YA.

I was really sad that the book ended when it did. I wanted to know more about the characters' lives. But I do get the intention of having everything be encapsulated in one night like that.

A pretty average run of the mill book something you would expect from YA discussing racism. The ending was abrupt even though the version I read had extra chapters still dissatisfying, but that was only cause I feel as if the authors could have done more.

All these two high school girls know about one another is that they go to the same school, one is white, one is black, and whatever assumptions they've made about each other. While they're at a football game--one of them working the concession stand, the other there to see a friend perform during halftime--a dangerous fight breaks out that escalates into a riot that spreads. They only have each other to survive it.

This book is peak show-don't-tell, jumping from one point of view to the other as they arrive at the game on the way through to the end. The pace will keep your heart racing, and you feel in the thick of the chaos, the emotions, the heat, as you follow them along.

An incredible read.
