This has come highly recommended as an audiobook, which is narrated by the author who is shockingly terrifying to listen to. These recommendations were not wrong. There is a lot in this book that is still shocking by today's standards, and I can't help but wonder what kinda shit storm would've been kicked up on Twitter if it were released today lol.

Great horror classic. My only complaint about it is the bit of Christian propaganda, with the priest, the atheist mom, and the story being a vehicle to their restoral of faith. ZZZ snore been there done that, bought & burned the t-shirt. Otherwise an excellent ride

An absolute masterpiece that chilled me one page and took my breath away the next. Blatty’s prose sparkles throughout and the book reaches heights of terror even the film didn’t get to. It’s a more intimate experience and a deeper exploration of the same themes as the film. I feel kind of sad that the book lives in the shadow of its adaptation when the book is the superior version.

One of the best horrors I have read — a story that truly understands the mechanisms and purposes and uses of the genre. It’s lurid and disturbing and transgressively gross but with a sobriety that’s very rare and hard to get right without just being lifeless; and there is much life and beauty here, though without the schmaltz with which those elements are usually delivered in this genre. A real classic.

Wow, loved it. Reads like a medical mystery. Great read for October.

Way better than the movie! I was in the mood for a scary book and did some research online reading reviews of books, this one caught my attention and I agree with the reviews of it. It was a great read, and was very hard to put down!
