I loved this and flew through it. It's brilliant, the characters are well written and it was such a unique story!

Truly magical! A book you’ll fly through! That’s the thing about a book about emotions I think. Forming a bond with the characters is inevitable.

Can someone just tell UK publishers to stop making bricks. This one was so bricky, it almost fell apart at the glue part. It’s impossible to read without. Now it has permanent opening damage and it stands permanently open on the pages that almost were broken off.

I started off being so hopeful (ha) about this one. I absolutely adored the concept. It is fun and whimsical but with a darker twist. That being said, I thought the first half was better than the second half. It feels a bit like the story ran away with itself. I liked the characters and the setting, and as I said, the premise, but I feel like I was taken on a whirlwind adventure that felt rushed after the first 100 pages.

The concept was all about emotions, but I feel like we didn't see our main character's emotions other than her Meddlum, which also didn't seem like it fit 100% with the way Cherry was as a person. We also didn't see much of a relationship build with Chase. At first, they hated each other and then they were a couple and there was no in between build up. There just seemed to be very little character development besides two characters, who had magical transformations rather than gradually getting better.

There were also a few places where I spotted things that could have been improved regarding the writing. Overall I like the positive, upbeat and fluffy style, but some things needed elaborating on and there were some places where Cherry's name was used far too often.

That being said, the story did have some lovely messages about not letting our negative emotions drive us, and still being a good human despite what we feel. This book was far more memorable and enjoyable than On The Other Side, but I'm still not sure Carrie's writing and story-telling is for me. I did enjoy the first 100 pages a lot, but after setting the scene and building the world, the actual plot was not my favourite.

I really enjoyed this book! Dont really know what makes it YA tho lmao other than 2 swear words. Hmm... yeah its not really YA but I still enjoyed it nonetheless!! The idea and plot was very interesting, but I think what made me relate more to the story, and the reason I gave it a good review is because I felt like I relate to the character for like her I love baking and its a different world for me where I feel relaxed and baking is just my safe home. Also. I feel like I also share the same negative emotions like Cherry but I hide it all through a mask. Like I feel lonely most of the time, and sad, but I hide it so no one knows, and I prefer comforting friends than myself....

This was frankly so poorly written. I never give up on books but it was just so bad I couldn’t force myself to read it. It was both maudlin and corny. I do not recommend it honestly.

I loved this book so much! It had a great story line, wonderful characterisations with characters that you genuinely had empathy for and a unique twist on a romantic tale. A definite page turner. Cannot wait to read Carrie's next literary instalment - definitely a fan!

This was... interesting...

There were lots of things I liked about this book. The concept of seeing emotions, the baking, the quirky funny characters. But, it was all too much for me. I'm just not the biggest lover of magical realism, I guess.
