I am not sure if I really liked this book, but it is beautifully written and translated and it definitely swept me up as I read it.

Nelio is a ten-year-old child from Mozambique. You'll fall in love with his sad story about living on the street, being a child soldier and stigmatized for suffering from albinism.

This is a book I want to read once a year for the rest of my life so I don't forget the humanity of this story.

Gorgeous story of street boys in Maputo. It's like if The Alchemist conceded the world was mostly meaningless violence.

This book read like all the cliches about Africa, about poverty, and about modern mysticism punctuated by beautiful storytelling. If you're interested in immersing yourself in mysticism, go for Coelho; if you're looking for something better about Africa, Naipaul.
