Thriller that draws from various real crimes. Kept me engaged & constantly questioning the mystery.
Excellent audiobook read by the author - she is the host of crime junkies!

So much more could have happened. There was so much that was just left open ended, which was just really annoying.

Hard to put the fanfic thoughts aside on this one. The ending especially was rough.

This was a twisting and turning mystery that was clearly pulled from a case I followed through my life of the JonBenet Ramsey murder, which I immediately caught on to. Though it may have started that way, this becomes wholly it’s own thing and I really, really enjoyed it.

Told in dual narrative and dual timelines, we follow Margot as an adult chasing a case of the murder of her childhood best friend, January, and Chrissy, January’s mother from the time of the murder of her daughter.

Margot was a dog with a bone when it came to January’s murder, clearly seeing a connection to another murder that has happened now all these years later. I enjoyed her tenacity. While some of the story did seem a little convoluted, as a whole, I found it to really keep me on the edge of my seat. There were things I could see coming and there were things that totally threw me for a loop.

This was a great mystery/thriller I would recommend for anyone who enjoys small town murder, cold cases, and stories where we follow an investigative journalist.
