Simply the best book I’ve read this year so far. Cookie was a gifted writer, witty observer, and overall queen. Both of us being from Baltimore and my personal love for John Waters & the Dreamland gang made this a book I could not put down. In fact I forced myself to read it slowly to savor it.

Her writing about art & culture felt analytical without passing judgment.

I enjoyed the vignette style and a couple of what I imagine are a vast library of stories in her mind, but maybe i wasn't in the mood to take in cookie? who knows

I was drawn to this book and i didn’t know why but i am soooo glad i read it. Cookie Mueller is an icon, i wish she was still around today to provide her commentary on the ways of the world (though i sadly think she’d be disappointed that some things still haven’t changed). What a unique woman

Cookie Mueller’s writings feel like story time in the best ways. Such incredible, hilarious, heartbreaking, and intimate stories about a life well lived made it easy to binge read and love. Will be recommending to everyone I meet.
