This book touches on a lot of dark topics, but it remains very hopeful and lighthearted.

KITT IS DISABLED! As a cane-user it was so exciting to stumble upon this book!
Spoiler Kit was injured on a heist a year before the book starts. We see him grapple with the loss of mobility and slowly come to terms with the change.

This was laugh out loud funny at parts (def recommend the audiobook for the voice acting and right delivery). MLM, Kitt’s queer awakening. Witty banter! Percy figuring out how to be a “normal” person is hilarious. Engaging plot besides the romance, a little mysterious at parts.

4/5 🌶️

I've desperately enjoyed some of Cat Sebastian's other books like Hither, Page (an all-time fave) AND I'm a history buff with a great love for this time period, so I'm not quite sure what didn't grab me about this one.

It's a good time, the characters are great, and the plot is interesting on paper, but I think another review nailed it for me - everyone's just so NICE. Which is great, good for them, but this cast deserves to be a little more intense! To go OFF. The stakes just didn't feel high or intense enough for what's supposed to be a pretty emotionally charged heist. And, as a lover of heists, there was not enough actual planning or heisting for me :(

But all that aside, it's a fun queer historical romance romp and I really did get attached to the cast, so 3⭐️.

This was fun but weirdly forgettable. The story never stays tense for too long, and most of the stressful topics are handled as things that are at least partially processed or happened a while ago. Even Kitt's very tragic backstory isn't discussed fully until well into the book, and at a moment where it specifically matters to the story and isn't just tragedy for the sake of complexity.
I like that the book begins by establishing that Percy isn't going to be rich for very long, thus reducing the tension in the story. Even though Kitt doesn't learn this for a while, I was much happier knowing that the giant disparity between their stations wouldn't stay forever.
If you want a romance that has a bit of danger but usually keeps the stress low, try this one.
