This is a wonderful biography of Mary Blair! The colors in this book match the artist's own. This is a great biography for tweens, and one that parents can learn a lot from as well. The writing is good and the illustrations are wonderful!

What a BEAUTIFUL book. I love sharing the story of one of the first women to work for Disney. And all of the different names for colors is an excellent learning tool!!

Love it. Great art style. Colorful of course. Lovely. This is a delightful picture book biography of one of the most iconic Disney artist's of her period--and one who young readers may not yet know. Using colors as a framing device this book follows the life of Mary Blair from her early artistic aspirations and her career as a Disney artists working on movies including Alice in Wonderland and Cinderellas as well as her later work designing the It's a Small World Ride in Disney World.

Mary Blair was an extraordinary Disney artist. She was the main designer for the iconic It’s A Small World Ride, Cinderella’s coach, Peter Pan’s mermaids and many other iconic works in Disney’s Golden Age. She fought to include vibrant colors and modern ideas.
Vibrant pictures with a plethora of colors make this a fun biography for young children.

Falls a bit short of what I would want if I were a child interested in drawing, animation, Disney movies, focusing as it does on the trajectory of Mary Blair's life and career and virtually ignoring the production of art.

I can only hope there will be more picture book biographies about this amazing artist. I would love to know more about Mary's work at Disney since she is an iconic Disney artist - so much of her work is celebrated around the parks and resorts!

Brigette Barrager's illustrations are absolutely stunning--- full of color, unique but with just the right nod to the Golden Age of Disney artists. I found myself wanting to know even more about Mary Blair, which is why I'm giving this four stars instead of five.

I love books that bring to light pioneering women I've never heard of before.

I also like the gentle, kid-friendly way the authors approached the sexism Ms. Blair experienced.

This is a picture book biography of one of the first women animators at Disney. I really liked it and the kids did too especially since she helped design one of the rides at the Disney parks that my kids are familiar with.
