2.5 stars. I really loved the previous book, so maybe it was inevitable that this seventh book ended up disappointing me. I love the dynamic throughout this series between Veronica and Stoker, and there is definitely less of that in this installment. The backstory introduced in this latest volume just frustrated and annoyed me. Possibly I missed hints of Veronica's past in earlier book, but it felt like this came out of nowhere. I'll still read the next book and hope for a return to what has worked so well, but I felt like I was slogging through this story.

This was an ok installment of the series but it lacked the sparkle and wit previous books in the series had had. I still enjoyed the characters but there was minimal development. The mystery was ok. I hate to say it but certain romantic resolutions may have made the series lose its spark.
