Alexander and Maven… a vampire and a witch. The whole connection via being “beloved” to eachother was interesting, I like couples with soulmate connections. They are drawn together through time and are OBSESSED with each other. He's very protective and primal? That seems like the right word.  lots of growling lol and sexy blood stuff. no I will not elaborate.… unless you want me to lol. I was intrigued but the writing is very juvenile and wattpad-ish. Had some overall cringe dialog—- “coffee black like my soul” was mentioned and he rawred a few times HAHAHA I CANT think about it without dying laughing again.  The whole mated thing was new to me and what can I say? I finished it and I didnt hate the vibes. I did full body laugh a few times during the horizontal tango. Very VERY smutty like sex all the time. They are like rabbits. I read this on kindle and even though it wasn't amazing, I had a good enough time. If you liked those dark romances on wattpad when you were younger, you'll enjoy this more than you think. What can I say, I like vampires?

Honestly, I really loved this book! This was the first book in many years of a reader's rut that I could really get into a flow and just read for hours like I used to as a kid. This is definitely a fast-paced story, often feeling like there were easy spots where more exploration or depth could have been had. Still, the fast pace helped a lot with easing me back into a flow so I greatly appreciated the pacing even if things weren't as in-depth. I do also see what some of the other reviews said about the leads pretty frequently going at it, but I really enjoyed this as well since it never felt forced to me and seemed to really highlight the inherent sensuality and chemistry of the relationship being depicted. Plus they were definitely spicy and satisfying to read. If anything I would chalk this up to a mostly feel-good, spicy story with not a lot of super heartwrenching conflict or anything that was simply fun to read.

This will easily be a book I reread in the future and I'm psyched for the next ones in the series!

Maven is a string character and I appreciate how her intentions never chnage throughout the book. My problems with this book come partially from the insta love ghost thing, which was weird, and partially from the lack of a plot. The whole book revolved around Mavens growing powers and Lex's return to the living but it all seems so trivial almost? Like most of the things that happened seemed to not matter in the end. Also the plot holes like Rarity aging but no one else and the family being alive despite their "bodies" being in the hall? Could have been good but felt unfinished.
