This book had me in tears. I was literally sobbing at the end. I didn't know what to expect with this book, and it took me totally by surprise. Don't look too far into it, just read it.

This was one of the most beautiful, original, and extraordinary novels I have yet to read. The father-son duo is so genuine and believable - I am in absolute awe after finishing this incredible adventure of love, loss, and growth. This work of art is a must-read and will remain in my top three forever.

I'm a character gal, and I really care for these characters. They are well-rounded, full of curiosity and a will to change the world.

But maybe I'm too nihilistic to want to change the world myself?

I'm not really into sci-fy, environmental themes and the such - but I really care about neurodiversity. So I kind of liked 1/3 of the themes Powers tackled. That's the main reason I cannot give this book 5 stars.

I do adore his writing style though, it's full of wonder and minimalism.

I enjoyed reading this book so much that I read it in small batches to make it last; or maybe the foreshadowing was heavy enough that I was forestalling the inevitability of the ending. Either way it's hard to deny the power of the writing.
