Emma's Gift is my first experience reading anything from Deborah Delaronde, and I definitely plan on it not being my last. It is not my first experience with Jay Odjick, who was also featured in Moonshot, and I definitely hope to continue seeing his work.

Emma's Gift is a sweet story of a Metis tradition, telling the story of Emma's first time truly experiencing King's Day. King's Day is a new concept to me, so it was interesting to see it explained and presented here in such a sweet way. Jay Odjick's art is really vibrant and cute here, and I think it represents the story really well.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to learn more about Metis traditions or King's Day, along with anyone searching for children's books with Metis characters. It is a good picture book for anyone in need of a good picture book. I look forward to reading more from the author.
