Narration is exquisite. The fiction seems to be expertly weaved with the real world history. The science and process was grotesque and captivating. Mary Elizabeth Frankenstein is a force to be reckoned with, and I wish her all the best adventures.

What must it be like, do you think, to run about saying whatever one likes, as so many gentlemen do? To have one's flaws and misdeeds attributed not to one's sex, or the manner of one's birth, but to one's character alone. I should like that, I think; to make an utter fool of myself, and be regarded not as a bad example of womanhood, but merely a bad example.

Truth had never opened anyone's heart - or purse strings - to a cause.

There is always that part of us, I think, that supposes ourselves immortal - not me, not today, not like this.

3/5 fun idea just not for me. Though I got some good quotes from it. Many other may love this book, and I can see why, it just wasn't a book for me.

Great setting descriptions, great character development, I'm not really sure what was lacking in this for me, but something was.

Started really slow but gains pace half way through and is consistent through the ending.

Chronic illness representation:
  • Maise: migraines, asthma and lung issues, heart issues, history of childhood illness.
  • Mr. Jamsetjee: tremors (likely Parkinson's) referred to as “shaking palsy”.
