3.5 stars. I really liked the nerd aspect and liked John and how he was the one who pined for Olivia for years, but some things in the story felt odd to me. I wanted to enjoy it more, but those things were just so awkward. He was an awkward person anyways, so that didn’t help. I loved how much he loved Olivia though and how he wanted to be with her for always. He knew she was the one for him and wouldn’t stop till he got his girl.

I finished this book out of spite.

I almost threw my kindle at the wall Nathan says that John isn’t on the autism spectrum or anything like that.
The blatant ableism and derogatory comment toward asd folks is just so harmful. I know the book is like 6 years old - but that is not that long ago?
And John is very clearly and very heavily autistic coded.

I cannot understand how this book has 5 stars on GoodReads.

I started it because I’d read “come back to bed” by the same author. I wanted a new light read and I’d like that book,
It said fake dating and had a full 5 star rating

There were so many things wrong w this book…

Olivia has always had a crush on her brother's best friend, John, so he turns to her as his fake romance when he needs a date for several functions. He's a very successful tech businessman, but the crush has always been returned secretly since she was younger, and he didn't want to upset her brother.  It's a fun story with several laugh-out-loud moments.

Idk I liked a lot about this but also not. I liked the dynamics and relationships. Not sure about a random friend just knowing he did not have autism but ok. His acceptance of his parents was not a normal social response and seemed a little unrealistic. The workaholic angle didn't work for me. Parts of this were cute but the ending conflict wasn't great for me.

Issue number 1: The male character's name is John. Which is just kind of terrible in a modern romance. 2. This guy is the biggest asshole for no reason. 3. The vibes of this book are "Nice guys are the best guys." The guy was unbearable, the romance was rushed and sexy times were awkward at best. And I was just left wanting so much.
