This collection shares poems and essays from people who are on both the autistic and transgender spectrums. Although all of the experiences are unique, common threads are revealed in coming out stories, family reactions, treatment from medical professionals, support from schools, workplaces and other bodies, and the role of community, pointing towards changes that could be made in these areas to improve accessibility and behaviours towards trans and autistic people. The essays range from accounts of growing up and personal relationships, to those which take on access and discrimination issues in society more widely.

My favourite aspect of this collection was how many of the essays and poems focused on a journey and gave permission for people to change their minds and exist more fluidly and flexibly, in contrast to the rigid definitions and fixed identities that cis-normative and ableist societies demand. Dipping in and out of the collection worked best for me, and so many of the perspectives have stayed with me and kept me thinking and reflecting.
