I don’t even know where to start… I was so excited for this book and had really high hopes. Definitely too high, because the whole book was just not it.
First Rory: we got little snippets of her growing up in other books and I really hoped for her to be strong and independent. That obviously didn’t happen, she had no backbone and let Nevio treat her like crap all the time.He literally killed a man for simply flirting with her and she just does… nothing? I also think she SA him, he was so drunk that he didn’t recognize her and she still had sex with him?!!
Then Nevio: he was just terrible, he just had to be worse than his father (biiiiig eye roll). I think at some point it‘s enough and it‘s not hot or exciting anymore. He was not a monster or a predator, he was literally just a spoilt, arrogant little kid with no boundaries. After everything he put her throughand the whole storyline with Battista?!(literally what was that) he still needed her to give him a reason to marry her???
None of the characters had any personality or connection with each other and it just felt repetitive and boring. I think I rolled my eyes so much I got whiplash.
I want to say good things about the ending, but it was literally only 20 pages that weren’t terrible and I only was okay with it, because suddenly Nevio was not Nevio anymore. Again, we didn’t get any insights or anything. It felt like all the important pieces were cut out.
Still 1 star because I like the whole Cora-Universe.
