I enjoyed the entwining of the past secrets with modern versions of the rituals, though some parts of the story felt a little rushed. I would have liked to explore the personalities and motivations a bit more deeply. That being said, it means the action is fast-paced and full of twists and turns. The descriptions of the rituals – both ancient and modern – were lush and intriguing. The character of Greg was great, and descriptions of the Council fascinating. The ending definitely surprised me! A good thriller with loads of religious trappings.
