Backstory of characters? Interesting. Change of style by different artist? Confusing and not very uniform quality.

As much as I like learning more about the backstory of the diverse gods, this volume feels mostly like water treading: it does extremely little to advance the plot, nor do the characters grow in any significant way. The guest artists did not help, either. Some of the artwork just does not feel as if it is up to the task, and the inconsistency in style is jarring.

Although necessary to continue reading the series this was quite terrible. 'The art was my favorite thing about this series and the guest artists were a horrible decision for the story-line (if time was a factor a hiatus would have been better). I am not trying to say these artists are terrible in general but it didn't work with this story where so much is relying on the art. "The Lost Cat" I skimmed through as fast as possible because it was so bad. I honestly read this as fast as I could and didn't even stop to appreciate the story. The original artist should redraw this entire volume so the series feels complete instead of fan-fiction that was thrown in and ruined the cohesiveness of the story.

Kind of a slower installment that gives the narrative a little room to breathe and gestate while also providing a bunch of good character context, but the mish-mash of guest artists didn't really work for me since McKelvie and Wilson's art is hugely why I love this series.

Not a fan of the changing art styles at all.

Killing off your main character in vol. 2 is a brave choice, but it didn't help the story. Without Laura, these comics felt vague and unfocused, and I no longer felt the intense pull from the narrative as I did with the first two volumes. Still very imaginative, but no longer such a knock-out comic.

It really is very confusing I can't follow the story at ALL. Also the art style changed?? It was so much better before?? I quit.
