Oh my heart! Leo and Felicity have a story that is full of angst and heartbreak but is beautiful all the same.

This couple met by chance as neighbors and it was insta love however hard they fought it. When their circumstances keep their time together short their love never wavers. This book had some shocker moments and I definitely donā€™t want to give anything away. Youā€™ll just need to read it. This couple gave me laughs and butterflies, crushed my heart and put it back to rights. These two were complete opposites but couldnā€™t be more right for each other. Loved their story!

Be prepared to legit BAWL!!!! I Bawled!!!! Bawled my eyes out!!!!!! Just when I think Iā€™m gonna read a love story that doesnā€™t RIP my heart out you go and do me I. Penelope!!! Didnā€™t see this one comingā€¦Iā€™m prepared to admit Iā€™ll be beside myself for a couple weeks after this one. That said, it was so damned WORTH it and BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!! ā€œThe purpose of life is to love with all of your heart and soul.ā€

I love Penelope Ward novels because I know there will always be unique situations and premises. I absolutely loved how Felicity and Leo first "met" and enjoyed their slow burn summer romance. Full of humor, chemistry, a bit of angst and a swoony British hero, The Aristocrat was addictive and once I dove in I didn't want to put it down. It was absolutely fantastic and engrossing. And now I'm so hoping for a book for Leo's cousin Sig. (Please!)

Ā I really want to like this book more than 2 stars, but failed. The reason is the stupidity of both the characters. Leo and Felicity.Ā

Felicity for being ignorant and indifferent toward Leo's background. And Leo lacking of skill of communication. This is just unbelievable. They have a romantic summer fling. Miss Ward at least done that. She gives a romantic and sweet banter between Leo and Felicity. Their character develop well together.Ā
Then toward the ending, everything become stupid and immature. I do not understand how Miss Ward screwed up the story developing.Ā

Penelope has always been one of my go to authors and still holds true after this book. Felicity and Leoā€™s story is so emotional and special! The instant connection they have to one another, the humor, the angst, and chemistryā€¦ I mean yummmmm. It was hard to put the book down because I wanted to know what would happen next. It tugs at your heart strings in all the right ways. Iā€™m really hoping that Sig gets his own book too.

I wish I wouldā€™ve DNF it

Die deutsche Ɯbersetzung war furchtbar. Ich lese diese BĆ¼cher sowieso ungern in deutsch und das hat es nur wieder bestƤtigt.

Very slight spoilers ahead

The Good:
Some people might consider that these two were way too serious about the future of their connection from the get go. But as an overthinker myself I loved seeing the push/pull of them trying to live in the moment knowing "there was no future".

Adored all the serious and deep conversations they had while getting to know each other.

Interesting to read about a royal thats not a prince/future king but still has responsabilities.

Liked seeing both main characters change and adapt their life goals around each other, in a healthy (mostly) believable way

I really liked Sig as side character that had his own background and sort of sub plot. Would definitely read a book about him.

The Bad:
The narrative voice in this felt like a third person even though it wasnt? Dont know how else to explain it. But it made it a bit difficult to fully connect with the characters initially.

Theres a particular part of the conflict that I dont enjoy very much, the whole: you looked happy so I (did this thing)

The Ugly:
No ugliness detected from this reader.

Would recommend to anyone who likes sweet and sexy summer romances with some depth and well crafted characters.
