This was an easy read, but I was disappointed with the "bad guy." It just wasn't very original of an ending, and I find it hard to believe someone as crazy as that wouldn't have been discovered beforehand.

This is such a good, enjoyable read. I’ve already read it twice in the span of a few months because I couldn’t help myself. I love the cynical cop meets psychic trope and this is a great depiction of that. Matt and Kiernan were lovely together. The case itself was well-written too and actually held my interest, though the subject matter was very tragic.

I wish there was more to read by this author!

When detective Matthew Bennett is called in on a missing child case on Christmas Eve, the last thing he would ever expect is for the child's ghost to lead him to her body. He's never believed in ghosts and can't seem to wrap his head around what happens. He soon crosses paths with Kiernan Fitzpatrick, a famous medium, who challenges him in more ways than one and is taken on an adventure that changes the way he views his life and himself.

This one was chosen for me in a challenge based on the types of books I like to read and it definitely hit the mark. Mystery, paranormal elements, tentative/slow building relationship, and generally adorable characters: all things I enjoy on their own and even more when they're together in one book. I find myself wanting to know what happens next for Matt and Kiernan, though I don't know that there are any plans for author to bring us more in the future.

I really loved this! Wasn't really looking for a suspense, but it worked for me. Only thing I'd change is that I'd love an epilogue!

Amazingly good!!!! I loved this book from the beginning till the end! I guessed who did it not too far in, but that didn't bother me. The characters were phenomenal! and the rationality of the character's actions were spot on. Made me really feel like it was real with real people. I can't be more happy with this book!

So this book starts of with Detective Matthew Bennett getting a missing child call. After the police has a taken a look around, Matt hears a little girl. He follows her voice and eventually her to discover her body and is quickly placed on administrative leave by his superiors. They also order him to see the department psychologist because they think he is losing it.
See, 15 months ago, Matt lost his work partner of 3 years, who also was his romantic partner. He never took time off to properly grief, so Matt's vision has to be the grief he is feeling. Only, Matt's sister in law and best friend Sheila thinks supernatural things occur and that he shouldn't dismiss what happened to him as crazy business. She takes him to see renowned medium Kiernan Fitzpatrick and the two of them set off to solve the mystery of why the dead girl Abby chose to appear to Matt AND who hurt this little girl. It was definitely off the record as Matt was on leave and the medium is not part of the police department.

The subject was a sad murder, but solving it became a form of catharsis for both Matt and Kiernan. Damaage from the past has kept them from truly connecting with others, but their sisters (Shiela and Aidan) were the pillars that kept the guys erect.

I love the way the story was written. even though it wasn't a love story, there was revelation and justice and love in this story. It kept me interested from page one until the end and I felt very satisfied at the conclusion. I would love a sequel to this one!

Kiernan and Matthew Bennett make a great team. I could totally see a whole series centered around the two of them. Bennett is a cop, he doesn't believe in ghosts, well at least he didn't think so until one led him to her body and continues to come to him at night. Kiernan makes his living by talking to ghosts. A famous TV psychic Kiernan has been talking to ghosts since he was a child.

This is a great murder mystery/romance. While Bennett and Kiernan struggle to find the correct killer and help Abby, the ghost haunting Bennett, they also find a strong bond holding them together. The mystery is twisted and interesting and Kiernan is a fun character with his quirky t-shirt collection, fabulous Irish accent and great wit. Bennett is just trying to hold on to his career and solve a case he has been told to stay away from and could he also be falling in love?

The mystery is more important than the romance, even though the romance is great. I love that there was more to this book than just the romance. Well written and fun I seriously hope that this author comes back to these characters.

Not a single typo/editing error. No repetition. No rambling. No need of the mighty 'Blue' pencil.

This story is incredible. It is a fantastic murder mystery with paranormal aspects that are well portrayed.

Matthew has suffered a devastating loss that 'outed' him to his precinct and exposed him to the bigotry of his captain. He has closed himself off and built a wall around his heart. But, this case brings Kiernan Fitzpatrick and the ghost of a child into his life. Together they have a profound effect on Matthew.

Matthew and Kiernan are both easy to visualize & connect to.
Kiernan has a quirkiness to his personality that on occasion makes you laugh out loud. Considering the gravity of the crime, it is a welcome respite.
Matthew is a seasoned detective.
He grudgingly puts aside his preconceived beliefs to get to the truth. Not an easy task for anyone, especially when it comes to ghost!

All the characters, the world build and the investigation of the murder are superbly written. The suspense and romance flow perfectly. This story will keep you riveted to the very end.

This is not a part of a series. I checked. I wish it was. I can easily see Kiernan getting into mischief and all the cases he and Matthew could work together on.

A great mystery. The author's talent truly shows. I am so going to read more from this author in the future.

This book was recommended to me by my Public Digital Library.
