would give it 3.5 if i could. it's better than the other books in the series so far, but there's still something missing.

Ani has always been different from those around her. She's part human and part faery, but not enough of either to feel like she truly belongs. Devlin was created by the High Queen and her twin to be their assassin, but after centuries of serving the High Queen he is left wanting more. When they join forces they change the world in unexpected ways.
After Fragile Eternity, where if felt like all anyone did was whine, this was a breath of fresh air. Many familiar characters are back for this installment, and it was interesting to seem them continue to evolve, but it's Ani and Devlin who really drive this story. They're complex and interesting characters willing to take action. With a refreshingly happyish ending, and big changes for faery just around the corner Marr is back on track!

I enjoyed this, but not as much as book 1 and 3 in the series. I feel like every second book is a spin off based on minor characters lives - I guess it's good for context, but I like the main characters better. Definitely dragged a bit.

This book marks a return to how captivating the first two of the series were for me; the third in the series was disappointing and failed to hold my interest, however, my love is renewed with this volume! Loved to see the character development of Irial & Seth, loved seeing more of Irial/Niall. While this one was hard for me to get in to, after a few chapters in it proved hard to put down. Very much enjoyed.

I think I liked this one the most out of the series. But then, I tend to favor the Dark court and the Wild Hunt. Enjoyed this thoroughly. We get to delve deeper into Faerie. We get to learn more about the Dark Court. And we get to learn more about how the courts balance each other. It seems almost like a side novel, as Aislinn & the Summer Court, and well as the Winter Court are kind of mentioned in passing. But, it's a large part of the development.

Oh Ani! I wasn't that interested in Gabe's tribe until I read this book. Ink Exchange is still my fav, but this one comes in second place.

While I enjoyed this book, it wasn't until the final few chapters that I really got into it. I found that the first half of the book at least was missing some of the spark that the original books in the series had. That being said, it's still an excellent addition to this series.

Would recommend, but only if you already really enjoy this series.
