Small Spoilers are in this review

Spoiler about half way through this book I wanted to DNF as I was not comfortable reading about the emotional and later physical abuse within the story. Curiosity though compelled me to keep reading.
By the time I got to ending I wanted a happy ending for Layla but I disliked Leeds so much that it ruined the story

Overall I liked the concept but I couldn't rate it higher than 3⭐️

I have almost no thoughts about this book. It was a good book, it wasn't great but it was still fine. Reading Collen Hoover's books has imprinted in m mind that there is always a big plot twist and this one had some but it wasn't a huge one, not according to me. The book had an interesting plot and the further you got into the book the more it kind of unraveled and it happened faster and faster. It did have me question Leeds sometime, he had some weird thoughts and it was disturbing at some times.

The book didn't meet the CoHo other books like verity and hopeless but I did go into the book blind and I think that helps me get a clear picture of what I thought of the book.

Falling in love with her was weightless, like air was breezing through my bones. Falling out of love is fucking heavy, like my lungs are carved from iron.
.
.
.
The story starts in current time with Leeds conversing with another man who's there to help him find answers as Leeds recounts the past months while his girlfriend Layla is held hostage upstairs.

Leeds struck me as someone who got obsessive quickly because Layla wasn't "like the other girls" and he needed something exciting in his life, so it didn't surprise me how he started to act after Layla was shot and Willow the ghost gave him those feelings again.

The entire time I kept thinking, Layla is the only true victim here, and the plot twist had me shook. Does it excuse all the abuse, torture, gaslighting, and other fucked up shit that was done? No, but it really puts the entire story in a new perspective. I've hated every CoHo book thus far, so I had low expectations for this, but this would be a book I'd read again now that I know the outcome.

This is the worst Colleen Hoover book I've read. I loved the characters until we got to the
Spoiler shooting . At first, when Layla and Leeds went to the B&B I thought this was just a stupid ghost story, but it was not, it was worse. It felt like the whole
Spoiler switching bodies plot line was just there to give Leeds an excuse for his
Spoiler cheating and I guess kidnapping?  . I found the characters very one noted and I don't love Leeds as a narrator. This book said *gaslighting will get you far*.
