3.5 rounded up. Fun book, great characters. A bit more fighting than I prefer, but easy and fun read.

3.5 stars. To me, The Misfit Soldier is most like Saving Private Ryan in space. I love Mammay’s writing and his characters, and this book had those elements. And while the plot seemed like a winner to me, it felt a bit disjointed in The Misfit Soldier, and I wasn’t as fully engaged as I was in the Planetside trilogy.
SpoilerThe setup for the rescue also felt longer than it should be, and then the rescue itself was rather quick.
The audiobook narrator was excellent, however. And so was the ending.

So while I liked this, I didn’t LOVE it. Regardless, Mammay is still a must buy for me!

This was SUCH a good book. Gas’s attitude and his snark and his cunningness—UGH I have a thing for snarky characters; they make the world go world.

This was fine but I didn't really enjoy the relationship element. Maybe I'm not the target audience for this one 😂

Reasonably enjoyable quick read, bit of Sgt Bilko in space, but some decent action sequences too. I enjoyed it and might try some of the authors other books.

Gas never wanted to join the military but when one of his soldiers goes missing during a mission, he'll do anything he can (to get him back safely.

Fun, inclusive military sci-fi that doesn't skew to the libertarian right.
