A good read. Really like the character of Holly Gibney. Not too spooky.

QUICK TAKE: I don't think I'm a fan of Stephen King short stories. Unlike many, I like the 300 pages of world-building and character descriptions and set-up. And I missed that here with these stories that I found neither that scary or interesting. The best one is for sure the last story featuring Holly Gibney that is essentially a sequel to THE OUTSIDER. I read the book a few months ago and couldn't even tell you what happened in the other stories. Not for me.

Another great story (and then some) of Holly! And she’s battling another “new and improved” outsider!! I really hope King continues with her character.

I’m not a Stephen King superman but have read quite a lot of his catalogue and thought this one was decidedly average. The first story about the phone was ok - but typical Stephen King, as soon as a new character appears then you get their entire history from birth, childhood, school, through adulthood- and then they die.
The second story made little sense really- and it took me some time to work out what it was all about.
Story 3, the title story, would have been a lot better if I’d read some of the previous books involving the main character as there is a lot of reference to previous incidents, including spoilers if you haven’t read them - so a relatively lacklustre experience for me.
And The Rat? Could have been written in about 20 pages - so much padding.
Not his best work.

Another pleasurable read by Stephen King. I can't wait to read the next installment of the Holly Gibney saga.
