I'm not a big Sally Rooney fan. I know, that's a polarizing statement, but I said what I said.

I’m giving this 4.5 stars instead of 5 because I read it too close to Normal People. It’s not really the book’s fault, and this did come before Normal People, but I couldn’t help but compare the two and notice their similarities. For example, there’s an argument in both books that is about the exact same thing and plays out almost the same way! Still, I really enjoyed Conversations With Friends. The first person perspective worked really well. I liked being in Frances’ head, though it was a hard, heartbreaking read at times. I just love the way Sally Rooney writes people and relationships. Her characters are frustrating and flawed and they make terrible decisions, but that makes them feel so real to me.
