Better than average rom-com with a lot of emotional depth, from both of the leads. Reminded me a bit of Mrs. Nash's Ashes, in that our character was on a grief road trip with lots of banter. I don't love TikTok (or any social media/influencing) being a major plot point, but it worked pretty well here, and is realistic to many success stories today. The end was especially sweet.

Tell me a secret..

The dedication had me hooked. Grandparent loss hits different.

"Soulmates born in different decades."

FMC, Noelle Shepard, gets canned from her job and moves home into her childhood bedroom (which is now her mother’s peloton studio) - all while grieving a huge loss. Her grandmother, who was her best friend, passed away 6 months ago. They told each other everything.. or so Noelle thought. While home, Noelle comes across a love letter and old photos to a mystery man that is not her grandfather. Responding as any millennial would.. she turned to TikTok and the outcome was not expected.

*I also love how her hobby and passion is for photography and how that plays into the trip/ending.

"Mutual attraction? Fine. But mutual interest? That can only end in disaster."

MMC, Theo Spencer, is a cocky, know it all, sexy business man who just made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Theo is Noelle’s high school nemesis. Theo also happens to be the grandson of mystery man, Paul, who is featured in Noelle’s TikTok video. Granddad Paul is not only wanting/willing to meet with Noelle, but shares intimate details of his past with her beloved grandmother and their honeymoon that never happened.

*My favorite Grandad Paul moment was when he comforted Noelle when she was worried about forgetting the sound of her grandmother's laugh.. Paul said it would never happen, as hers sounds the exact same.

"I don’t want to be done with this at all."

You, with a View by Jessica Joyce is a familiar feeling, well written, A+ debut novel. MJ’s Book Mates (my book club) read this fantastic, forced proximity, one bed, road trip, enemies to lovers romance for our September 2023 BOTM. 4 stars from me!

*I really enjoyed the non-influencer influence Noelle had on the world through her TikTok series. Folks calling home, talking to their grand/parents and expressing their love/appreciation as well as helping others go through grief.

Where to next?

*Spoiler: I definitely thought Granddad Paul would kick it in the last chapter/epilogue..but he doesn’t! Just take care of yourself if you have older grandparents or just experienced a loss.. this would be a tough read under those circumstances.

This has such an airy and light hearted feel and was just a perfect breath of fresh air. I love the dynamic between Noelle and Theo, their constant banter and the sweet moments in between were so relatable and real. I've never had the connection with a grandparent but in all those moments where she felt a reconnection with Gram - I felt those too and man it made me emotional. I love watching couples figure out their emotional needs separately and together, and the way they worked through it all was so good.

Theo is the new standard. Noelle is equally amazing. I love when I end up being in love with both MC’s

You, with a View is a super sweet rom com, high school nemesis to lovers with forced proximity. I adored the lighthearted journey this book takes you on.

Loved the characters and the travel element
