3.5 stars. Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high, but I honestly felt like Confessions on the 7:45 was just... meh. I’ve heard from so many that Lisa Unger is the queen of thrillers and while I definitely cannot discredit her more than capable storytelling abilities and character development (I personally felt so much empathy for Pearl despite being such a deeply flawed character), most of the twists became quickly obvious to me and I found myself putting the book down to do other things more times than I would have liked.

I also felt like the many different POVs and timeline jumps made the backstory take too much precedence over the present day narration, which unfortunately slowed down the overall pacing of the story and made it less gripping than most others thrillers. Though it did take me longer than usual to finish this book, I did appreciate the way that everything came full circle in the end.

This is my first Lisa Unger read and I’d categorize this book as one of those “popcorn thrillers” I had. Not very much exciting or gripping to the point I’d have to bite my nails but not boring enough to make you say “nah!” I think I’ve read too much thrillers already that it’s so hard to find a book I can easily give away 5 stars. Those type of books that will put me on edge. Although, I miss that feeling. The plot was good, very interesting however in the middle of the story I think I’ve figured out what’s what. I think what’s lacking is that “spice” again that will make you say wow that was a ride!

I read this book in one day - yes, you must know. Great fast paced plot with good twists.
Selena discovers her husband, Graham, is having sex with the nanny. He was laid off, supposedly looking for a new job. Guess not.
Pearl lives with her mom, Stella - never told her dad's identity. Stella dates Charlie who starts to work at her bookstore.
Anne is having sex with her boss - she's a con artist working her latest scheme.
Geneva is the nanny. She goes missing after leaving Selena's house.
Little predictable but oh what a plot.
Highly recommend.

I had one of the main twist figured out early in the book and so nothing else really surprised me because it just made sense as the story developed. I usually really like her books but this one was not as good as I expected.

I selected this book because I really enjoyed The New Couple in 5B. I was expecting more of the same -- a juicy mix of mystery and paranormal. This one was good, but it lacked the paranormal component, so I was slightly disappointed. Still a good mystery though.
