I have to say I lost interest about midway through the book. It's not something I would read again but the concept sounded interesting enough.

This is not a book for the ages; rather, it is a book you read because you love reading and because you find the author to be a kindred spirit. Her approach to literature -- both in terms of quality and quantity -- is one to which I aspire. A book a day! I can only hope. Added bonus: an excellent reading list.

One of my favorite books this year! If you love books and reading, then you will love her discussions of books getting her through tough times in life. I love how she relates to the authors and characters as if they are real people (I do the same thing).

I wanted to love this book, because I initially resonated deeply with the author's journey through grief and with her year of reading. There have been seasons of such dark grief in my life where all I have been able to do is read and this has kept me afloat and given me a place to be seen.

While the book was well written and brought up some interesting books, it felt too sanitized and analytical, as though the author was trying to create the neat ending that she doesn't like in books she reads. I wanted to know how the books made her feel and how they changed her. I wanted to laugh and cry with her. There was great potential for this, but it felt more like I was being told in a matter of fact way what the year of reading looked like..I would have appreciated delving into some of the books more and to hear about their transformative power.

I was inspired by the thought that reading can bring one to life and engaging in the world and I did appreciate moments that were thought provoking throughout. My to-read list has also grown exponentially after this reading. Well written, but it left me wanting.
