A fun retelling of the classic Cinderella story from the stepmother's perspective. In this version, Cinderella talks non-stop and her step-family is not too happy. This was a humorous take that calls into question all of the magical elements of Cinderella's life.

At the end of the book is a brief overview of point of view and narrator perspective and how these can change the story entirely. There are a few exercises included to promote critical thinking and literary skills.

Humorous tale with fun illustrations that gets the reader to think about the importance of who is telling the story.

Things I loved about this picture book: I loved a common fairy tale flipped around. It gave wonderful reccomendations at the end for discussion points when reading aloud. It was cute, fun, and a little irreverent. Great book.

I liked it

It was good, not great, but I liked it. The different perspectives from the stepmother, not evil, and it was interesting but still left some unanswered questions.

Seriously, Cinderella Is SO Annoying!: The Story of Cinderella as Told by the Wicked Stepmother (The Other Side of the Story) by Trisha Speed Shaskan – I feel sorry for the prince in this one! But I’ve always thought he was a bit dumb anyway. How can you fall in love with a girl without remember what her face looks like? No lets rely on a shoe instead! Lol! Another cute twisted tale! Happy Reading!

A pretty clever retelling from the Stepmother's point of view, though the concept was a bit more clever than the actual story. Even so, you can see how those who may not be so willing or able to believe in magic might view the happenings of Disney's Cinderella. This was also a very quick, short read even by some older-audience targeted picture book standards, meaning it would do pretty well for younger kids with a short attention span.
