Redeeming 6 (Boys of Tommen Book 4)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"...I'll mean it when I say it, but I don't trust myself, Aoife. I just don't"

“I've spent a third of my life loving you, Aoife Malloy, and I don't plan on stopping.”

“Because in this version of forever, we get the happy ending Malloy.”

---------------------------------------

This is the fourth book in the Boys of Tommen series and the second in Joey/Aoife's duology. After finishing the first book in Joey's duology, my heart was breaking for these characters, yet full of hope for what might be. However, I knew because of events that transpired in Johnny and Shannon's books that it was going to get a lot worse before it got better. Still, as has been with every book in this series, I was not prepared. I will not put any spoilers, but Joey's letter to Aoife... oh my gosh 😭. Thankfully after breaking our hearts and putting us through the ringer, Chloe Walsh put us back together again. I have never felt more connected to characters as I have in these books. I felt their every emotion. And, yes I am aware they are fictional, but I am so happy for them and their character growth.

Joey, this man will fight tooth and nail for those he loves. He is the ultimate protector. He does not back down from responsibilities. He is everything to his brothers, sister, and Aofie. And Aoife, I loved her "ride or die" mentality. She became the only person Joey could count on, and she truly understood him. While I wasn't her biggest fan in Saving 6, she found redemption in my eyes in this book. I love these two together and they will live in my heart always.

The emotions this book prevoked... I have no words. These books are now 4 for 4 on making me tear up, and I am not a crier. These two will be in my heart forever.

***Please note there is mature content and triggers in this book, and overall this is an extremely emotionally heavy book.

I don't know if I'll be able to move on from this book. I fear I'm too emotionally attached to Joey and Aoife now.

This is a huge book and at times it does feel like it. There's a lot of back and forth between Joey and Aoife. Here we're finally caught up to Shannon's story and we're seeing things in Joey's POV but it's not a huge focal point in this one which I'm grateful for because I kind of struggle with books that tell the same story just in a different POV. But like I said this one does feel like a big book at times because the pacing is slower/medium and at times it does feel like it's dragging a little bit. It's like every time Joey gets a step ahead there's like 3 steps backward and it does finally wear on him to the point he does eventually end up in rehab. It's a lot to take in but I do like how this one ended and I loved seeing more of all of the family and Johnny's family here. Plus, I loved whenever Gibsie appeared. I really can't wait to read his book!

when i say nothing, i mean absolutely NOTHING could have ever prepared me for the amount of tears i cried while reading this. this took everything and more out of me. it took my tears, my heart, my mental wellbeing. everything. but i will never stop thinking about joey and aoife’s story, and especially joey and how he let aoife and everyone around him down countless times, but to FIGHT for his life quite literally, and get his happy ending. i’m still sobbing.

I feel pretty neutral about this story. It feels very relative to the first books however there is new content at the end of the story but just wish it was new from the start or middle on. I don’t hate it but i wouldn’t say i loved it. I do think the author does amazing research and find the story and events very realistic.
